The Solar Division of Xandex Inc. announced today that its new SunMizer(TM) DC Power Optimizer for solar panels has been certified to both United States and European safety standards by TUV Rheinland of North America.
TUV Rheinland of North America Inc., a Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL), has certified SunMizer to the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1741 safety standard. UL 1741 is the US safety standard for inverters, converters, charge controllers, and interconnection system equipment (ISE) intended for use in stand-alone or utility-interactive (grid-connected) solar power systems.
The TUV Rheinland GS S1 certificate is presented to manufacturers that demonstrate full compliance with the GPSG (German equipment safety law) and also demonstrate compliance to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) required for CE mark labeling.
Xandex chose TUV Rheinland of North America to perform SunMizer safety certification testing because they provide a single-source entry to both the US and European markets by combining test activities into a single program that shortens time to market and reduces overall certification costs.
"Our close collaboration with TUV Rheinland resulted in an efficient and timely process, from initial Design Review through final product testing," states Jeff Muchow, VP of Engineering and Quality at Xandex. "The process was thorough, ensuring SunMizer is a safe and effective product for both the American and European markets."
